SE to examine anxiety, depression

Many experience depression or anxiety without realizing it. To help people recognize the symptoms, Michael Eason, TCC SE counselor will hold Anxiety and Depression 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Feb. 9 in the North Ballroom on SE Campus.

“One in seven college students may face a depressive-type illness,” he said.

His seminar will help people understand and treat what they are going through with community resources they might not know they can access, he said.

Students will learn about the behavior that is going on with themselves or maybe in someone they know, Eason said.

“Many students have followed up by visiting a counselor to discuss personal issues after attending the workshop,” he said.

Eason said students learn to recognize where their behavior can be connected to anxiety or depression.

“Anxiety and depression are extremely prevalent among college students today, and many do not realize the symptoms or know what they are feeling or experiencing,” he said.

For that reason, Eason said he set this seminar as a learning environment with a lecture and time for questions from and interaction with the audience.

This seminar is free and open to students, faculty and the public.
