Natural gas pipelines are being planned to connect the wells on NE Campus to another well in North Richland Hills.
In the next few months, construction workers will begin laying the pipelines, which should not cause problems for people on NE Campus, said Brian Murnahan, manager of communications for Chesapeake Energy.
The pipeline will run from the Morrow Stevens site in the western part of North Richland Hills and connect to the college site.
Construction for pipelines from the site in North Richland Hills will not begin until fall 2010, Murnahan said.
He said Chesapeake is still obtaining the rights of way and acquiring permits.
“There will be very little impact on campus,” he said. “The pipelines will edge around campus, and students probably won’t even know we are there.”
Murnahan said the pipeline will be bored underneath roadways, and one will be four miles long.
David Hoelke, TCC’s director of system infrastructure, said he is currently pulling all the information together for the college.
Hoelke said gas has been found in the NE Campus wells.
“They are not able to begin producing until pipelines are in place, permitted and have gone through final inspections,” he said.
Both Murnahan and Hoelke said the pipeline should not affect students on campus or the surrounding roadways.
Murnahan said Chesapeake officials will have a better idea of where the pipelines on campus will be and if they will affect any roadways in early May.
