TCC dance instructors will join their commercial dance companies as well as Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth and Texas Dance Theater for the 2010 TCC NW Faculty and Guest Dance Concert March 10.

Dance workshops will be held that morning at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The concert is at 2 p.m. in the WTLO Theater, followed by a question-and-answer time in the theater and a reception in the theater lobby.

Concert tickets are $1 for TCC students, $5 for general admission and free for faculty and staff.

Karen MacIntyre, NW Campus dance instructor, will perform In This Dream, a solo dance she choreographed based on the poem “Comfort” by Mary Greene.

“In the poem, a woman returns to her childhood home after many years away,” MacIntyre said. “Dreams mix with memory, painting a multi-textured field of images, both starkly real and nonsensical.”

The Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth and Texas Dance Theater will present portions of their spring performance series.

All students are welcome to watch the Ballet Master Workshop 9-10:20 a.m. taught by Will McKnight of Texas Dance Theatre and the Modern Master Workshop 10:30-11:50 a.m. taught by Kerry Ceriman of Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth in the dance room (WHPE 1103).

Students who are dancers are encouraged to join, whether enrolled in a NW Campus dance class or not. However, for students without prior training, this type of workshop could lead to injury, and they are discouraged from participating, said Amy Sleigh, NW associate dance professor and coordinator.

After the performance, students can question the choreographers and performers about pieces, where ideas came from or about how the performer or choreographer got started in the field.
