Allison said she wanted the audience members to know that business owners are not the only ones who can benefit from networking.
“I truly believe in helping women succeed in the workplace at any level,” she said.
Every female employee should network through some social media source, Allison said. This activity builds multiple connections with present and future references to further one’s career.
“Most of the time, it’s who you know, not what you know,” she said. “Word of mouth is one of the most effective ways to market yourself and your business.”
Everyone gets stuck in ruts — same routines, same people, Allison said. Every once in while, people should shake up their world and make a small change in their lifestyles, such as going to the gym at a different time, joining a new association or online network or calling some of those old college pals for a night out. Just making a small change in routine can bring an individual into contact with new and different people for an old-fashioned table talk.
Business networking can build symbiotic relationships among peers and associates that can help test new ideas or resolve current issues in one’s business.
Allison told audience members they were with like-minded individuals whom they can share with, learn new things from and get the support they’ve been looking for as a woman business owner.
Several people said they learned a lot and enjoyed the speech because of Allison’s high energy level.
“I liked how she focused on women coming together to help each other grow their business,” student Katie Banes said.
Graduate student Kari Stevens found the presentation beneficial.
“I strongly recommend Toni’s speeches and programs for any small business owner,” she said.
