South counselor to explain psychology of color

As a part of individual professional reflection in the workplace, a South counselor will present The Art of Color March 21.

Sandra Marshall will address how the psychology of color impacts people’s overall appearance, confidence and energy.

“I want the audience to feel confident when selecting garment colors for their wardrobe that are flattering to the skin tone and assists them in creating a polished look for the workplace setting,” she said.

Since appropriate dress and makeup are part of success in society, this workshop will help students learn to be more professional in appearance and become confident in the workplace, according to Marshall. This workshop is designed to empower participants by allowing them to understand the role of color.

This approach will also allow the audience to prevent color confusion when purchasing garments.

“After selecting appropriate workplace garments according to your skin tone, basically you are creating a color-coded wardrobe, allowing matching garments to be a breeze and selecting color combos that will allow an easier experience when dressing,” she said. “I believe that feeling confident in the workplace setting and looking workplace-ready when dressing allows you more time to concentrate on other things in the workplace.”

The Art of Color presentation will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the SSTU Forum Room on South Campus.

Participants can bring samples of their favorite colors. Each will prepare an individual color analysis during the interactive color testing.
