Local lawyer addresses need for leaders

By Rema Atiya/reporter

A local lawyer will help South Campus celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Veronica Chavez Law will present Leadership Fort Worth 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Oct. 2 in the SSTU Living Room.

Law, president of the board of directors for Leadership Fort Worth, will address the need for more Hispanic leaders in the community, which is part of the group’s purpose. Law said her presentation is aimed at students.

“They will learn what Leadership Fort Worth exactly is and what it is used for,” she said.

Also taking part in the Hispanic Heritage presentation will be Leadership Fort Worth’s executive director Harriet Harral and program director Jan Titsworth.

“We are reaching out to Hispanic students to join Leadership Fort Worth because our community is in need of more Hispanic leaders,” Law said. “However, we welcome all kinds of students because we are a very diverse organization.”

Law was in the 1999 Leadership Fort Worth class and has been on its board since 2006. Not only is she a part of Leadership Fort Worth, but she is an attorney who was named one of Tarrant County‘s Top Attorneys by Fort Worth, Texas magazine in 2005 and 2006.

The presentation is free to attend and open to the public.
