Pride week kicks off on TR Campus

By Anderson Colemon/tr news editor

Trinity River Equality in Education, TR Campus’ LGBT organization, will celebrate its own pride week Oct. 7-10.

On Monday, the TR Campus Pride Parade will start in the Main Street hallway 11 a.m.-2 p.m. In the parade, all participating clubs will march down TRTR Main Street.

On Tuesday, pride pins will be passed out from the TREE table on Main Street 12:30-1:30 p.m. Students can make their own pins as a reminder of what makes them proud.

On Wednesday, a mock same-sex wedding will be held in the Zone 1-2 p.m. Activist Mark Jiminez, who was arrested during a protest on gay marriage, will be guest speaker.

On Thursday, the club will have its first drag show 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Zone. Some participants will include club members and faculty. All students are invited to take part in the drag show.

For more information on the events, call TREE member Antonio Mercado at 817-709-6739.
