To support health in women and men during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Joan Katz Breast Center will present Breast Cancer Awareness Oct. 22 on NW Campus.
Sherree Bennett, a nearly 12-year breast cancer survivor and creator of the Joan Katz Breast Center, will serve as guest speaker for the session.
“Men and women [need] to be aware of the early detection of breast cancer,” she said.
The long-term registered nurse who started the program more than four years ago takes breast cancer to heart through her own experience.
Bennett wants to promote early detection in women and men through screening as well as support, counseling and education.
“There are great cures available for those who are able to detect cancer at an early stage,” she said.
The presentation will be noon-1 p.m. in WACB 1123. Lunch will be served. To reserve a seat, students can call NW health services at 817-515-7603.
