Starter Loggs, Team 3 keep undefeated intramural records going

Although Team 1’s struggles continued, Team 3 and the Starter Loggs emerged victorious to remain undefeated in South intramural basketball play March 4.

The first game featured two evenly matched teams in Team 3 and Team 4. At halftime, Team 4 held a 31-27 advantage.

Team 3 came out of halftime with an intensity that was not there in the first half and finished strong to secure a 64-55 victory.

Deezmond Henson of Team 4 blamed the loss on “stupid passes” and a lack of intensity.

“We gotta have that want,” he said of his team’s inability to match Team 3’s intensity in the second half.

In addition to intensity, the tempo of the second half had a lot to do with Team 3’s success, Robert Lewis said.

“Our chemistry came along in the second half,” he said. “We slowed it down in the second half.”

The next game featured Team 1 vs. Team 7 and did not have the first game’s intensity.

Milan Rasevic predicted he would score 44 points before the game, but it was Melvin Green who stole the show by scoring 34 points in Team 7’s 76-57 victory.

“My teammates were looking for me,” Green said. “It makes me feel like a star.”

The last game was another close matchup between the Starter Loggs and Team 6.

The game was close the entire time with the Starter Loggs holding a one-point lead going into halftime.

Team 6 kept it close the entire game, but in the end, the Starter Loggs won 44-41.

The win kept the Starter Loggs undefeated, along with Team 3.

The Starter Loggs will play Team 3 March 23.

If both continue winning, that game will be crucial going into the playoffs.

The Starter Loggs are not short on confidence, though.

“Put it on the front page: Starter Loggs are going to the ‘ship,” Loggs player Darnell Dickerson said about the District Cup Championship.
