NW Campus dance program will celebrate its anniversary with a performance of selected old and new choreography.
“We do a spring concert every year, but this one is a little more special because it’s our 10-year anniversary,” said Lacreacia Sanders, associate professor of dance at NW.
The performance, In Retrospect, will take place 7:30-9:30 p.m. March 26 and 27 at Scott Theatre in Fort Worth. More than 100 dancers will perform, including around 25 alumni and 40 dancers from NE Campus.
“[Alumni] were all very excited,” dancer Beccy Weiner said about coming back for the performance.
NE dance professor Linda Quinn and Sanders traveled to each other’s campus to teach the choreography for the piece NE and NW dancers will do together.
“This is a collaboration,” Weiner said.
Student Iris Galvan has been part of the NW dance program for four years.
“It’s a big family group, so it’s hard to leave family,” she said.
The show has a variety of dance styles like ballet, lyrical and hip hop among others.
“If you don’t particularly like a style of dancing, your style of dance will be on stage eventually,” Galvan said.
Admission is $7, and proceeds will go to the NW Fine Arts Scholarship.
