SE starts series of help seminars

One SE Campus event has a new name and a fresh outlook.

The Student Development Seminars, previously the Brown Bag Series, will be offered  throughout the spring semester.

“ The primary focus of the series is to provide students with information that will assist them in making wise choices,” Joyce Fisher, SE counselor, said.

Some topics will focus on personal growth, such as building healthy relationships, dealing with stress and managing anger.

“ College students undergo a great deal of stress, and it is our hope that we can give them some insight to help them deal with those situations,” she said.

Fisher said other topics should help raise awareness of binge drinking and drug abuse.

“ Many college students may have a family member or friend who is dealing with these issues,” she said. “This information will help them to recognize and understand the warning signs.”

Fisher said the seminars are also geared toward students who are looking to the future.

“ A professional recruiter on campus will give the students tips on making the transition from college to the workplace,” she said.

Mike Eason, SE campus counselor, will present “Building Healthy Relationships” Wednesday, Feb. 1 at noon in the ESED North Ballroom.
