The NE music department will present 9/11: Remembrance Through Music 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in NSTU Center Corner.

The performance will feature NE music faculty playing music from the standard repertoire with an “in memoriam” theme.

Edwardo Perez, NE assistant professor of music, will perform Silens Cado 1:43, a piece he wrote specifically for the program. Perez will be accompanied by Margaret Chisholm and Warren Dewey NE adjuncts, playing percussion with Perez on trombone.

Silens is Latin for silent; Cado translates to fall, drop, crumble.

“ The piece musically depicts the events that occurred from 8:45 to 10:28 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001,” Perez, said. “Melodically, the percussionists will represent the two towers and the trombone, the Pentagon.”

The 1:43 in the title is symbolic of the time span when the World Trade Center towers and Pentagon were hit.
