NE student Angela Hardy’s professor told her to take pride in her work when putting together a project in Art Appreciation class.
“It was cool when it all came together,” she said.
Associate professor Richard Parker’s Art Appreciation class installed 500 butterflies in front of the NFAB building Sept. 18. They celebrated with a small ceremony and a group picture.
Parker said the goal was to have non-artists use the materials mylar, metal rods and glue so that they could learn how to make real art.
“It’s 500 butterflies to make the kaleidoscope which is the name for the group of butterflies,” he said.
According to Parker, the students learned about concepts of art like negative and positive space, feathering and how other people look at their art.
Student Dorey Blakeslee, who was in charge of the project’s organization felt great about the project.
“We made nice artwork for the students to see as they walk to class,” she said.
