Student organizations have come together to host a student-led arts festival on TR Campus.
The Come Together Fest 2018 will be organized and sponsored by TR’s Film Club, Arts Space, Manos y Manas, Foodies Club, Drama Club, International Student Association, Rotaract Club, Guitars Club and Gamers United.
The idea for the event came after the Film Club hosted a film festival last December, said TR student Everton Melo, a member of the festival’s organizing committee.
“The turnout for submissions and attendees surprised us, and we wanted to do something bigger,” he said.
The clubs organized the event to embrace the artistic community around all TCC campuses, Melo said.
“We wanted to give this community a platform to showcase their art and to engage with other students and the Fort Worth community,” he said.
The event will run 5-9 p.m. May 1 in the TR outdoor patio.
The event will feature submissions from artists, which the organizing committee is currently accepting through April 25.
“All styles of arts are welcome: music, film, photography, drawing, painting, crafts, poetry, drama and dance,” Melo said.
Submissions for artist performances are only open to students, he said.
“Attendees will have an opportunity to experience an evening full of arts, games, music, painting interaction, poetry, outdoor film screening and more,” Melo said. “Food will also be available for purchase.”
Attendees will also have access to information about some of the resources TCC offers students, a 30-minute guided tour around the campus’ art collection and a transfer lounge with representatives from Texas universities and other schools around the country.
For those interested in submitting a film, they shouldn’t be longer than five minutes.
The three films will be screened during the festival, but a pre-selection event for all of the films submitted will run 6-8 p.m. April 25 at the Endeavor Cinema Group Creative Lounge, located at 1549 N. Main St., Suite 101 in Fort Worth.
Admission will be free to that as well, Melo said.
