Transfer center coordinator Laura Escamilla held group advising sessions Oct. 22 for aspiring students to get into the nursing program on TR Campus.
Escamilla gave insight into the registered nurse associate degree program at TCC. She also mentioned that TCC is finishing contracts with Grand Canyon University and the University of Phoenix for Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing programs that will open up next semester.
“Apply to all nursing programs,” Escamilla said. “If you don’t try, it’s an automatic no.”
Students should concentrate on math and science courses and recognize the difference between a “good” GPA and a “good nursing GPA,” Escamilla said.
Students should also consider taking the HESI or TEAS exams and prioritize completing the FAFSA for 2019-2020 school year by the end of the month, she said.
“Knowing what classes to focus on was nice. That way, I don’t waste my time,” said Rodrigo Alvarado, a transfer student from Honduras.
