Table tennis tourney starts on NE Campus

By Eric Poe/sports editor

Table tennis, or as the less civilized refer to it, ping-pong, will be played at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 21 in the NE Campus gym.

The tournament is part of a health initiative by the health and physical education department called New Games, which are alternatives to the usual intramural sports such as football and basketball, said NE HPE instructor Kim Kerby-Dickman.

“It gives opportunities for students to try new things,” Kerby-Dickman said.

Kerby-Dickman said the tournament is not just for students.

“It’s all free,” she said. “It’s free for students, faculty and all staff.”

The procedure for participating in the activities is fairly easy, Kerby-Dickman said.

“You can sign up in the gym right before it starts,” she said. “All they need to do is present their class schedule and a form of ID.”
