CD Review-Sweeney Todd Soundtrack

CD Review-Sweeney Todd Soundtrack

Sweeney Todd Soundtrack (4 stars)
sweenytoddTim Burton’s take on Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd creates an interesting and ultimately entertaining soundtrack.

Sweeney Todd Soundtrack Highlights features the majority of the musical numbers from the film. The only film tracks missing from the CD are “Alms, Alms,” “Ladies in Their Sensitivies” and “The Final Scene,” but these selections aren’t worth the extra cash for the complete soundtrack.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are surprisingly good singers, and their duets are the best example of their singing talents (“My Friends”).

Though the talents are great, many listeners won’t like the melodramatic nature of the CD. Sweeney Todd Soundtrack Highlights is a great addition to your collection if you loved the film or just want to hear Depp sing.
