Now-April 16 The NW Campus Academic Learning Center will provide students with information on improving literary analysis at 11 a.m. in the Writing Lab (WTLO 3411A). The event will cover the strategies for moving from a literary summary to an analysis.

Now-April 16 The Academic Learning Center will host Writing Technology: Online Resources at 2 p.m. in the NW Campus Writing Lab (WTLO 3411A). The workshop will feature an interactive tutorial of online resources for writing and college success.

April 13 NW Campus’ University Transfer Center will host Aggie Day on TR Campus 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Texas A&M University officials will talk to students about majors, housing, admissions and financial aid. Students can register for the event in the Transfer Center (WSTU 1406A). Transportation will be provided from NW to TR Campus.

April 13 NE will host military on campus at Springfest 10 a.m.-2 p.m. by the NSTU chessboard. NE career services will host a recruitment fair for various branches of the military and have recruiters available to talk with students about military careers. April 13 TR will sponsor Investigating in Undergraduate Education 2-3 p.m. in the Idea Store’s theater. Students will receive financial coaching and ways to plan their courses out for the semester as well as meet with counselors who can provide resources.

April 13 NE Campus will hold Financial Literacy: Spending Plans 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room (NBSS 1103). The seminar includes information on reducing spending, planning ahead and budgeting for expenses.

April 13 Texas A&M University will host Aggie Day on TR Campus 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Riverfront Cafe. Students are invited to meet with Texas A&M University’s degree program representatives to learn more about what the school can offer. Students are encouraged to RSVP at http://tx.ag/aggieday.

April 13 NE Campus will hold a blood drive 9 a.m.-4 p.m. outside of the Student Center. Donors must weigh 110 pounds, and it is recommended that one be hydrated and have a light snack prior.

April 13 NW Campus will host a counseling and advising workshop about exploring personality 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Student Center (WSTU 1305). The presentation will show students how personality characteristics influence their lives and relationships.

April 13 TR health services will host Wellness on Wheels: Stress Awareness Month — The Power of Thought 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Discovery Center (TRTR 3102). Students can get healthy snacks and learn how to deal with stress.

April 13 The Pre-Law Club on NW Campus will discuss opportunities available to pre-law students 2-4 p.m. in the Michael Saenz Conference Room (WACB 1123). The event will have a pre-law transfer panel that will include NW pre-law advisor Julie Lantrip as well as advisors from area universities who will discuss pre-law programs, scholarships and other opportunities available.

April 13 Counselor Nicole D’Alesandro presents Keep Calm and Practice Self-Care 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in SACT 1429 on South Campus. Students will learn common areas of self-care and put a plan into motion to take care of themselves.

April 14 TR’s Center for Leadership will present Thursday Live with Executive Class 1-4 p.m. in The Zone of the cafeteria. Tips for networking will be presented with comedy and entertainment to help students learn important business skills. April 14 NE Campus will hold part two of the three-part Transfer Academy called Getting Interactive noon-1:30 p.m. in the Darlage Center Corner (NSTU 1615A). Students can meet and get information from representatives of area four-year universities. Students who attend all three sessions will be entered to win a $500 scholarship. April 14 NW Campus will hold a session on test-taking strategies 10-11 a.m. in the Innovation Forum (WTLO 3101A). Students will gain information on how to manage test anxiety and get tips for taking multiple-choice or objective exams as well as essays.

April 14 South Campus will hold its Spring Fest 12:30-2 p.m. in the east lawn in front of SPAC. Students are encouraged to attend to unwind before finals week. April 14 South Campus will hold LinkedIn for Veterans at 3 p.m. in career services (SSTU 1102A). Career consultant John Matcynski Sr. will teach veterans how to “link-in” before, during and after completing a degree or certificate at TCC.

April 14, 19, 21 The NW Campus math department will give students a chance to simplify trinomial equations 9:30-10:30 a.m., 12:30-1:30 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Math Emporium (WACB 1143). Students can solve the equations using either the GCF or magic method.

April 16 South Campus Anime Convention takes place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. throughout the Student Center. The event, sponsored by South’s Anime Club will have a guest panel and various events including a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament, a Super Smash Bros tournament, a cosplay cafe, anime on display, an art exhibit and free games.

April 19 Poetry Slam, presented by the South English department and Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the SREC Recital Hall. People can sign up in SFOA 1120 to participate, and poets check in at 6 p.m. on performance day. Participants will compete in two separate categories: one for students and one for non-students. April 20 South Campus will hold Hunger Run, a two-mile run/walk for students, faculty and staff, starting at 2 p.m. in the SHPE building. The event benefits the Tarrant Area Food Bank, and the entry fee is five cans of food. The event includes a drawing for door prizes, awards to various male and female age groups and refreshments after the race. Pre-registration forms are available in the SHPE building, and race-day registration starts at 1:30 p.m. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 200 registered. April 21 Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month: TCC Students Fight Back!, a self-defense class, will be taught by a TCC police officer 3:30-5 p.m. in the SHPE Yoga Studio on South Campus. The class will address situational awareness and techniques against an attacker in various positions. Participants are encouraged to wear the appropriate attire: workout clothes and comfortable shoes and socks.
