NE Campus is gearing up for its 50th anniversary with a weeklong celebration.
The NE Harmony Cultural Connections festival kicks off the celebration Oct. 16. The event will feature performances to showcase different cultures from groups on campus, NE assistant to the president Fred Schmidt said.
Movie Night: Short Film Contest debuts student and faculty filmmakers’ three-minute films, which will be shown for the NE community 7 p.m. Oct.16 at the courtyard next to the clock tower.
Schmidt wanted to bring back the film festival NE once hosted and knew the 50th anniversary would be the perfect time.
Students and faculty will have a chance to participate in a 5K or one-mile fun run at 6:30 a.m. Oct. 17 outside by NHPE.
Other events include a parade led by the NE Jazz Ensemble, and two Flashback Field Day events at 12:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the NHPE building.
Flashback games will invoke memories of grade school field events such as tug-of-war, dodgeball and balloon burst, Schmidt said.
The celebration concludes Oct. 18 with Fall Fest: Homecoming, which will feature local vendors around the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area, university representatives, campus clubs and a live DJ.
