50th birthday features homecoming week events

NE Campus stayed out of the rain to celebrate its golden anniversary with a week’s worth of events.

Harmony kicked off the week Oct. 16 with dance, music and poetry to promote cultural diversity. A homecoming parade was canceled after days of intense rain, but students could get a workout during Flashback Field Day Oct. 17 in the gym. The week ended with Fall Fest, which took over the Student Center with campus information, games and food Oct. 18.

NE student development associate Michelle Taylor said she was disappointed about the weather affecting events, but it showed how the campus community can turn a negative into a positive.

“One of my favorite things about TCC is how we can pull things together at the last minute, make it great and bring together the community,” she said.

NE communication, arts and entertainment dean Linda Quinn said she’s grateful to be a part of the legacy.

“I was a student here on this campus back in 1979, so I have memories of Tarrant County College when it was Tarrant County Junior College,” she said.
