The road to WrestleMania is almost complete as WWE is about to bring the 42nd edition of its biggest event of the year to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18-19.
WrestleMania 42 will continue WWE’s recent decision to make its showcase event a two-night event.
Night 1 will be headlined by Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. This will make an impressive four straight WrestleMania main events for Rhodes, who has been one of the company’s top stars since returning to WWE in 2022. Orton will enter this match as a 14-time world champion, putting him only two behind the WWE record, which is 16. A win would put him one step closer.
Night 2 will have a main event match for the World Heavyweight Championship featuring CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns. This will be Reigns’ 11th WrestleMania main event, extending his record. For Punk, this will be his first main event. Punk has spoken over the years about his personal goal of wanting to headline WrestleMania, making this match one of the most significant moments of his career.
The women’s division will showcase its WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way match. Having eight women in one match will be sure to have moments and spots that fans will remember.
Stephanie Vaquer is set to make her WrestleMania debut defending her Women’s World Championship against Liv Morgan. Morgan won the Royal Rumble previously this year, which guarantees a title match of her choosing in the WrestleMania card.
The other main title match for the women’s division will have Jade Cargill defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley. Having won the title back in November, Cargill will once again look to successfully retain her title.
The Women’s Intercontinental Championship match will feature the champion AJ Lee and the challenger Becky Lynch. Lee recently returned to WWE back in September and will make her return to WrestleMania after an 11-year absence.
Celebrity involvement also remains part of the event with commentator and analyst Pat McAfee and artist Jelly Roll in the feud between Rhodes and Orton.
Another celebrity involved this year will be streamer and internet celebrity IShowSpeed, who will compete in a six-man tag-team match alongside fellow influencer Logan Paul and Austin Theory going up against The Usos and LA Knight.
Multiple wrestlers will get their first WrestleMania moment this year.
Trick Williams, who broke through and reached the top of his division, will challenge for the United States Championship against Sami Sayn.
Je’Von Evans will also make his WrestleMania debut competing in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match.
Fan favorite John Cena will also be involved although not in a match due to his retirement earlier this year. He will be in attendance as the official host.
