After going 2-0 in the round-robin finals, Team Buckets pulled through and was crowned SE intramural basketball champions March 30.

Team Buckets narrowly defeated La Familia 20-18 in the semifinals and then beat both Bowieside and COOL in the finals to claim the championship.

Blair Moffatt of Team Buckets felt positive about his team’s performance.

“I feel collectively as a group we came together, and everybody did great,” he said.

Both games started out neck and neck, but Team Buckets pushed exhaustion aside and started putting points on the board. Bowieside was its toughest opponent in the finals. However, Team Buckets defeated them by nine points.

Team Buckets star Tobi Laniyonu was pleased with his team’s performance.

“We came in as underdogs, and nobody really had faith in us,” he said. “But we worked hard, played as a team and came away with the trophy.”

With Team Buckets already crowned the champion, COOL and Bowieside duked it out to see who would be named runner-up.

The teams went back and forth for the entirety of the game. With time winding down, Bowieside sunk a game-winning shot to defeat COOL 20-19 and finished in second place.
