Eleven students have been selected to represent SE Campus as ambassadors.

The students were inaugurated at a pinning ceremony Nov. 5 and received a jacket and pin and took the campus ambassador oath.

The ambassadors will represent the school on and off campus and in front of dignitaries as well as serve as role models for other students.

“It’s an honor,” said Abiola Orekoya about being selected as a student ambassador.

Broadening her horizons and meeting new people are what Orekoya hopes to get out of her experience.

Ambassador Lynda Le, who believes college is more than just attending classes, said she hopes to inspire other students to apply.

“I’m always looking for anything that can help me improve myself so I can help others,” she said.

Feeling a sense of duty toward his school motivated Ian Ussery, who has attended SE Campus off and on since 2000, to become an ambassador.

“TCC’s given me a lot ever since I left high school,” he said. “I wanted to give back to the school.”

To qualify, applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and completed eight classes with the SE Campus Student Leadership Academy.

SE president Bill Coppola, who selected the ambassadors, said the program has been in development for 18 months.

“I am very impressed with the students and the program,” he said. “We are off to a great start that hopefully will grow over the years.”

The other ambassadors are Eleanor Gay, Camthy Nguyen, Javier Alicea Colon, Christina Roach, Marcus Johnson, Moises Casalinovo, Luisa Vasquez and Edna Robledo.
