Student organization to host children’s party

By Jamil Oakford/reporter

Patients in Cook Children’s Hospital will get a festive visit from some familiar TCC faces once again.

NE’s Student Ambassadors have organized a party for the children on Feb. 22.

“It’s surprising that they let us come,” ambassadors vice president Alli Mock said. “It just lets you know they trust us.”

An organization with a record of community service, this is yet another opportunity for members to be out in the community, doing something good.

“We know our own situation, so it’s [helping] an eye-opener,” sociology instructor and adviser Cheryl North said.

This isn’t the first party that they’ve held at the hospital.

“I hope to see more of the patients … and more smiles,” Mock said.

The Student Ambassadors and their adviser are quick to remind people they aren’t the only ones to take credit.

“We have the whole student body behind us,” North said. “Sometimes we team up with other clubs on campus to get things done.”

The party will have face painting, temporary tattoos, jewelry making and other arts and crafts activities.
