Heart authority discusses healthy habits, lifestyle

By John Garces/reporter

NE Campus health services will host the Heart Healthy Luncheon 12:30-1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in NSTU Center Corner.

Dr. Jenny Adams will present Traditional Exercise Advice for Cardiac Health: Dismiss the Myth. Adams has served as a research associate in the cardiac rehabilitation department at Baylor Hamilton Heart Vascular Hospital for the past 10 years.

“We will have a free lunch for everybody who makes reservations, and everybody who attends will receive heart-healthy items,” said Pat Marling, NE coordinator of health services.

Marling said the luncheon is important because it gives students the chance to learn about how to be heart-healthy at an early age.

“It’s an opportunity for them to get information that affects all age groups for free,” she said. “Heart health is something we all need to think about, and even if you’re not affected by it, chances are somebody you know is. Those lifestyle changes have to start when you’re young.”

Any student who wishes to attend needs to RSVP by calling 817-515-6056 before Feb. 9.
