NE offers seminar on WebAdvisor

By David Rojas/reporter

Most students don’t know what myTCC/Blackboard and WebAdvisor have to offer, said Jeanette Jacobs, NE academic support services coordinator.

She gave a seminar about getting the most use from campus software Jan. 28 on NE Campus.

One of the least-known features on myTCC is online tutoring, Jacobs said.

“I don’t think our students use it enough,” she said.

Under the Tools bar, when clicking on Tutor 24/7, all TCC students get 10 free hours of tutoring in various subjects, she said.

After using those hours, a student has to pay for additional tutoring.

In WebAdvisor, students might find it useful to look at Access to Course/Faculty Information (HB2504), where a student can learn more about a course and the faculty members teaching it, Jacobs said.

It shows how long they have been teaching and even a rating of what previous students thought about the class.

“It was better than I thought it would be, and I actually learned new features I didn’t know about,” NE student Ana Alvarez said.
