Students who have had problems logging in separately to their myTCC portal and myTCC email might be happy to see the logins have been joined.
Students can now access both programs by just logging into their myTCC account, rather than having to log in to each one every time it gets used.
“One of the major complaints from the help desk is that students have too many passwords to remember,” said Tim Marshall, vice chancellor of institutional intelligence and technology. “We chose myTCC portal and email because they’re the two most popular programs used and the ones students have the most trouble logging into. As time goes by, we hope to be able to consolidate all the programs through this.”
Some students, like TR student Elizabeth Trager, did experience problems logging in the first day the technology launched Oct. 21.
“It was super slow loading up, but eventually, it worked,” she said. “I didn’t even realize they were changing the login, so I was confused when I saw it looked different. I hope they do this with all the sites we use. I hate having to log in to each one over and over.”
Marshall says the new login will benefit students by making it easier for them to get what they need done.
“Fewer passwords make it easier to do jobs,” he said. “Students get frustrated when they can’t log in, and we don’t want them to miss important communications from their teachers, friends or the administration with bills or paperwork they might have due.”
NW student Bailey Reid said the single sign-on is one less annoyance he has to deal with when logging on to myTCC.
“It’s not like it’s a big deal, but it’s one less hassle to deal with,” he said. “I only log on to myTCC for school stuff, and it’s not like I enjoy doing it. Why make it complicated if it doesn’t need to be?”
