Names & Events

Now-Dec. 4 The NE Student Ambassadors are collecting gloves, hats, scarves and other winter apparel for the women and children at Safehaven of Tarrant County. Boxes are in NSTU, NTAB, NFAC, NACB and NBSS.

Now-Dec. 5 NW Campus student activities is collecting new and gently used coats, hats and gloves for the homeless. A donation box is provided in the break room of the Criminal Justice Training Center.

Now-Dec. 8 The NE Future Teachers Club is sponsoring a donation drive for Alice Contreras Elementary School in Fort Worth. School supplies and new or gently used children’s books can be placed in boxes in NBSS, NTAB, NSTU or NACB.

Dec. 2 NW student activities and career services will host a session of its job series focusing on careers in networking and social media. The seminar will be held at 12:15 p.m. in WSTU 1406. Lunch will be provided at no cost for the first 16 students.

Dec. 2 South will host Managing Your Financial Aid 9-10 a.m. in SERS 1112A. The event will allow students to learn the necessary tools to remain eligible for financial aid and learn to budget and gain financial literacy.

Dec. 2 SE career services will offer a Job Links mentoring opportunity 8-10:30 a.m. in the campus Ballroom. Contact career services at 817-515-3592 for more information.

Dec. 2 NE health services will offer free HIV and syphilis testing 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in NSTU 1704A. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. For more information, contact health services at 817-515-6056.

Dec. 3 The Hornet’s Nest, a documentary film hosted by NE student activities, will be shown at 9 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.. in College Hall (NCAB 1111) on NE Campus. The film sheds light on an epic battle in Afghanistan and the aftermath of the cost of war. Author Terry Burgess will share commentary about the film as well as resources for veterans and/or family members. Concessions and DVDs will be available for sale. Dec. 8, Dec. 14 The NE Campus Innovation Forum will present two yoga sessions the week before finals 2-3 p.m. Dec. 8 and 10-11 a.m. Dec. 14 both in NLIB 2100C. No reservations are required. Dec. 9 The National Marrow Donor Program will be on South 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the SLIB Drake’s Study Break Café for bone marrow donations. Donors must be 18-60 years old and in good health. For more information, contact health services coordinator Tina Ingram at 817-515-4531.

Dec. 9 Carter BloodCare will have mobile units for a blood drive 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the South SSTU patio. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid photo ID.
