Election season is near, and the deadline to register to vote is rapidly approaching.

Primaries for the midterm elections will be March 8, but early voting will take place Feb. 20-March 2.

Texans who want to vote in the primary must be registered to vote by Feb. 5.

Any citizen of the U.S. who is eligible to vote can fill out the application in several places, such as the post office, library or the Department of Motor Vehicles.

If renewing a driver’s license or state ID card or applying for new ones before Feb. 5, the application has an option for one to register to vote.

Once sent, the applicant will have to wait for a voter registration card in the mail.

The midterm primaries will determine party nominees for governor, congressional and state seats as well as other offices.

SE Campus will help students register to vote 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Main Commons while NE will hold a registration drive 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 31 in front of the library.
