TCC and Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County celebrated the opening of the newest workforce center on NW Campus Sept. 29.
The new center is located in the NW career services office and provides a range of services for job seekers such as job listings, professional workshops, job coaching and more. This location joins five other centers in the county.
“Bringing together collective resources from both organizations in one convenient location is a tremendous positive benefit for job seekers as well as for employers who count on our graduates to be a part of their workforce,” NW president Zarina Blankenbaker said.
TCC and Workforce Solutions offer programs and tools to help students transition into the job of their choice, Blankenbaker said.
“This is an opportunity for students to explore all the exciting, in-demand career opportunities available to them in the DFW region,” said Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County executive director Judy McDonald.
The center will give students a competitive advantage by helping them network with some top employers in the area and teaching them more about career pathways and possible internship opportunities, McDonald said.
“TCC is dedicated to providing post-secondary education and industry-recognized credentials to their students, and at Workforce Solutions, we strive for placement of our customers in jobs with livable wages,” she said. “To be located right on the path to those jobs should create efficiency and synergy of ideas and strategies that will benefit both organizations and the customers we serve.”
TCC board of trustees president Louise Appleman is also a board member of Workforce Solutions.
“The addition of the Workforce Center and new bus routes serving TCC NW makes the campus an even more important resource for the community,” she said.
