Palin joins Fox to talk politics

Former Alaskan governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has started a new chapter in her life.

Instead of being the most commonly talked about political figure, she’ll do the talking.

Fox News hired conservative Palin, giving her a chance to get back to her past in broadcast journalism as a commentator on political issues.

This is a good career move for both Fox and Palin.

Palin’s tapped into what the Republican Party wants to talk about. She knows her audience.

Despite her loss with John McCain’s campaign in 2008, Palin has become a very public figure, representing the conservative party with her autobiographical book as well as multiple interviews.

But by joining a news station more conservative than most, she has the opportunity to stay in the public eye and have a stronger, longer-lasting impact on those who wish to listen to her ideas and opinions.

In an article by The Associated Press, Palin has a huge fan base on Facebook, giving her a following of 1.1 million.

With this and her new job on Fox, she may quickly become the “celebrity face” for the Republican Party in the media, and Fox will reap the benefits for sure.

Not only will she draw in more conservative support and viewership with her profound voice, but this career move will catch the attention of liberals who will tune into Fox News wanting to know what she stands for and what her next move will be — and if she’s still in competition.

This gives Fox a bigger chance, along with Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, to cover both sides of the political spectrum much more easily, entitling the channel to more ratings along the way.

And like most Republicans have probably done in light of Obama’s presidential election, this will give Democrats another chance or reason to sit in front of a television, yelling at a screen that may “talk back” about their differences in opinion.

Palin’s multi-year deal will offer political commentary and analysis across all Fox News platforms, according to an article on the Fox Web site. She’ll also periodically host a series on Fox News called Real American Stories.

What a way for Palin to cover all kinds of topics on both sides of the donkey and elephant.
