After suffering a heart attack on the campaign trail, 2020 presidential candidate and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ age and health is in the spotlight now more than ever.

While health should absolutely come into play during an election season, age shouldn’t, and assuming that he is going to die before his term ends is unfair to the hard work that Sanders does for America.

There is no younger, healthier candidate who can offer what Sanders is bringing to the table.

In fact, even younger candidates do not campaign as hard as he does right now.

Any candidate with Sanders’ schedule would have trouble with maintaining their health.

The man is putting his life on the line for the country, and there are people who say his age and health issues make him unfit to campaign.

Hugely powerful American politicians are hovering around the same age as Sanders, and while the role of commander in chief is more important than every other position, we need this man who is more passionate and dedicated for this job than ever before.

He has been fighting for the American people since a few of the other Democratic candidates have been alive, and he deserves a fair shot at the White House.

And the inconsistency of his fellow candidates only highlights his views even more, as he has been a valiant defender of things like LGBTQ rights and health care for all.

Coupled with his unchanging views throughout his career, as well as his “for the people” policy proposals he is without a doubt the most genuine and honest person in the Democratic pool right now.

The absolute uniqueness of Sanders makes him a candidate who should have no reason outside his policies to be discounted.

This isn’t 2016, and Americans aren’t picking between the lesser of two evils like Trump and Clinton. Voters have 19 candidates to choose from, and the one that cares the most is Bernie Sanders.
