River Legacy Fall Festival

The annual River Legacy Fall Festival in Arlington celebrates the changing season by inviting families to enjoy what autumn nature has to offer.

Hosted by River Legacy Foundation to raise funds for the local nature center, this festival features guided hikes through River Legacy Park, animal performances with wildlife ambassadors, local food vendors, live music, a pumpkin patch and more.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10. It will be held at River Legacy Park and River Legacy Nature Center on 701 Green Oaks Blvd.

Admission is $8 per person and $3 for 3-year-olds and under. For $40, groups of four can purchase a Family Fun Pack, which includes admission and coupons for food and activities.

$5 movie nights

With the weather cooling, outdoor events are becoming enjoyable again. And nothing screams fall more than a festive movie under the night sky.

Throughout the month of October, Saddlerock Wine & Beer Co. in Fort Worth will host fall-themed movies for ages 21 and up.

The standard ticket is $5, and it is recommended to bring a blanket to enjoy the movie picnic style. If you’re wanting to elevate your experience, a $20 premium ticket includes a bean bag chair and a complimentary bag of popcorn.

Snacks and drinks are available for purchase as well. Each Wednesday of the month, movies ranging from “Obsession” to “Beetlejuice” will be showing starting at 7:30 p.m.

Cutting Edge Haunted House

Haunted houses are one of the most exciting things about fall. Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth isn’t just a local favorite. It’s an iconic destination for haunt fans across the country, holding multiple Guinness World Records for its massive scale and walkthrough length as well as consistently winning national awards like USA Today’s Best Haunted Attraction. The building is a century old, abandoned meat-packing plant, and the haunt uses this to its advantage by utilizing the factory’s original conveyor system to hang realistic-looking corpses overhead.

Located at 1701 E. Lancaster Ave., it’s officially open for the season. Ticket prices range from $29.99 to $44.99, depending on the date. Check cuttingedgehauntedhouse.com to plan your scare.

Pumpkin Nights

There’s nothing like being immersed in larger-than-life worlds constructed with countless pumpkins to get you in the fall spirit.

Pumpkin Nights Dallas is an annual fall festival that features a half-mile illuminated trail of over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins. The family-friendly festival is held on Howell Farms in Arlington and runs Sept. 17 through Oct. 31 from 7-10:45 p.m.

The event also features a pumpkin village with food and games, live entertainment and fire shows. Tickets for adults range from $24-$38 for weekdays and weekends, respectively, with a $10 fee for parking.

Fright Fest

Every fall, screams fill Six Flags Over Texas when Fright Fest comes to Arlington. Theres haunted houses and live music as scare actors stalk visitors through the dark walkways.

The haunted attractions will cost $30 with fees for a full day pass, not including park admission. Fright fest lasts until Nov.1, with a large celebration expected for Halloween night.
